SD Latino Film Fest 2026
This project began with a question: how can Latinx culture and cinema be represented without relying on literal or stereotypical imagery? For the SD Latino Film Festival 2026, the goal was to create a visual language that felt warm, joyful, and inviting, while honoring the diversity and imagination behind Latinx filmmaking. This case study documents the creative journey that led to the development of a character-driven poster rooted in metaphor, movement, and cultural connection.
Visual Approach
The creative process began with an exploratory sketch phase focused on translating abstract ideas into visual form. These early sketches were used to experiment with the fusion of Latinx cultural identity and cinematic elements, allowing characters, movement, and visual metaphors to emerge organically before moving into digital refinement.
Este proyecto comenzó con una pregunta: ¿cómo representar la cultura latina y el cine sin recurrir a imágenes literales o estereotipadas? Para el póster del SD Latino Film Festival 2026, el objetivo fue crear un lenguaje visual contemporáneo, cálido e inclusivo, que celebrara la diversidad y la imaginación presentes en el cine latino. Este case study documenta el proceso creativo que dio origen a un póster construido a partir de la metáfora visual, el movimiento y la conexión cultural.
El proceso creativo comenzó con una fase de exploración a través de bocetos, enfocada en traducir ideas abstractas a un lenguaje visual. Estos primeros sketches sirvieron para experimentar con la fusión entre la identidad cultural latina y elementos del cine, permitiendo que los personajes, el movimiento y las metáforas visuales surgieran de manera orgánica antes de pasar a la etapa digital.
