MiraCosta College’s Student Accessibility Services (SAS) department requested a set of wall graphics to transform their space into something more welcoming, empowering, and identity-centered, while avoiding the use of typical disability icons. In the lobby, the message “Diversity is Our Strength” is paired with abstract portraits and a patterned visual language to represent different ways of experiencing the world and the everyday tools that support accessibility. In the hallway, a timeline highlights key moments in disability rights and education through historic figures, connecting the space to a broader story of progress and advocacy. Overall, the abstract approach invites interpretation, avoids stereotypes, and reinforces one clear message: you belong here, exactly as you are.

Se requirió por parte del departamento de Student Accessibility Services (SAS) de MiraCosta College la creación de gráficos murales para transformar su espacio en un lugar más acogedor, inspirador y centrado en la identidad, evitando el uso de íconos típicos de discapacidad.
